This is what is seen from the top of the pyramid.
How do we keep the masses struggling to acquire resources even as technology makes those resources heavily abundant? Artificial scarcity.
How do we convince them this is the best way forward? Control the flow of information.
How do we stop them from working together? Divide them by their differences and petty squabbles.
If there is hope, it MUST lie in the proles, because only there in those swarming disregarded masses, 85 per cent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the Party ever be generated.
Slavemaster or Slave: Choose one.
The vast majority of people never get this choice. Most people are just slaves. However, through hard work, dedication, luck, talent, nepotism, and often times seedy behavior, some of the slaves will "win the lottery" and make it to the top. This is the foundation of the American Dream: Pyramid Scheme. We are all temporarily embarrassed millionaires. Carrot, meet stick. It is the ultimate lottery of control.
Anyone who tries to free the slaves ends up dead; most of the time under mysterious circumstances, but sometimes people are made an example of overtly.
- Abraham Lincoln - Literally freed the actual slaves.
Murdered 8 months later. - Julius Caesar - Tried to give resources from the elite to the people.
Stabbed 100 times on Senate floor. - JF Kennedy - Tried to take power away from the CIA. Oops.
- MLK - Let's keep it a dream, shall we?
The list goes on and on and on and on and on. If you try to be Spartacus, you end up dead. Plain and simple. The greatest people and leaders throughout the ages have all been assassinated or undermined. Anyone who tries to take power from the establishment meets the same fate. I hope they never caught Satoshi Nakamoto.
One rule to rule them all.
It's easy to look up and think:
Wow, these guys at the top can literally do whatever they want.
Yes, they get away with heinous atrocities, but there is still order. There are rules in America. People at the top who shatter the illusions of freedom are severely punished.
Brainwashing and the controlling of data in a digital world has become the mainstay of control around the globe. People need to be kept divided and ignorant but, more importantly, they need to continue being spoon-fed the same narrative.
A good example of this are grunts in the armed forces. These people actually believe they are defending freedom and bringing democracy to the world. A while back we made some deals with the same "terrorists" that had already been dehumanized in the eyes of our military. This was a big no-no. All that brainwashing started to get undone and discontent was sowed throughout the military for a little bit.
People like to think that the bad guy gets what he deserves and the good guy gets rewarded. (OMFG so many stupid cop dramas.) Shatter all these illusions we've put in place for the general population and there would be chaos. This is why people at the top can't do whatever they want. They usually have to be sneaky about it and go through proper channels.
This is why decentralization is so important. People can't manipulate power structures, but technology can. Essentially, ideas can't be killed, and once they are out in the world they have the ability to change it.
As time has churned on, the elite is usually able to navigate these shifting sands to stay on top. Looking at history, we really have to assume that they will do the same thing this time around. However, decentralization stops these top-heavy power structures from climbing too high. There may be a lot more room at the top than there was before. How many debt-slaves can this new system liberate? I guess we'll find out.
