Bloodsuckers: Fine Fine I'll Do My Taxes

Gotta get that $1200 stimulus check, amirite?

Looks like I haven't filed my taxes since 2014. I only paid $100 in Federal income tax last year, so I figured it wasn't really worth it. However, since I fall well below the poverty line apparently I get all kinds of exceptions and will end up with a $550 return in 2019. I tried to file for 2018 as well but they won't let you do it online. Could probably get another $550 there as well.

It's been fun not filing my taxes for so long, but I guess the party is over. Gotta suck the tit of the government some more while they make the population even more dependent than they already were.

It's all going into Bitcoin, baby!

$500 has already cleared my Coinbase account, but I'm not sure if I should jump right in like I always do. Being 100% in all the time has been nothing but trouble for me. I'm always very annoyed when the market crashes and I have nothing to spend.

On one hand I expect the stock market to crash, and Bitcoin has been very correlated lately. On the other hand everyone is about to receive this stimulus check, and I really have to assume that most people who are already into crypto and haven't lost their jobs are going to dump all of it into the market.

There's also the halving event, which is a complete wildcard. Normally the Halving would be bearish when it hits, as all it does is reduce the income of the miners by half in an instant. However, we never had the speculative hype cycle due to the COVID scare, so I wonder if something crazy is going to happen in the event of this perfect storm (economy opening + halving event + stimulus + infinite QE + ...)

I'd say there is a decent chance of crypto breaking the correlation to traditional markets this summer for an epic rally/dump.

May/June are usually pretty good to Bitcoin, especially when the previous Winter was a dud. Unfortunately, history means very little.
We are in completely uncharted territory. Will Bitcoin do what it's supposed to and defend against this infinite money printing? It's also noteworthy to point out that Litecoin's halving was in August.

In another interesting turn of events, TurboTax gave me a free credit score, which turned out to be 620. This is low, but it is actually way higher than I was expecting considering how many thousands of dollars worth of credit card bills I let go to collections. Two Chase cards, a PayPal credit line, and a Discover card if I remember correctly.

The last time I went into my bank to get a secured Visa (a credit card that is 100% collateralized by the user) I got rejected. I'm wondering now if 620 is high enough to get a secured Visa. If I get approved, I'm pretty much guaranteed to get a real credit card after 6 months good behavior, and I won't even have to worry about those damn debt collectors. The statute of limitations is approaching. Judging by my credit score printouts, it looks like I only have a year or so to go before many of my bad deeds get wiped off the board.

On the same depressing note of bowing to the man, a truck driver position has opened at Amazon. I need to fix my resume and apply... Me... a truck driver.

Yuck.

Still, I would end up with a lot more hours and my rotator cuff could take a break from all this manual labor. I can't really tell you how many hours I burn away just mesmerized by the low hum of pain constantly in the background. Unfortunately just sitting down can trigger my lower back which can trigger my rotator-cuff, so maybe it's not a great idea.

Regardless, I'm trying to make as much money as I can during this time when everyone else is going to be struggling financially. Everyone knows the biggest gains are to be made during these bear markets when all the suckers go bust.

In addition, taking a full-time position likely gives me priority over part-time workers when it comes to switching jobs. My main goal would be to get into logistics where I belong. Get me onto a computer with database access.

What are you going to spend the $1200 on?

I've been asking random people at work this. The answers are incredible (not really). No one is going to learn their lesson from this pandemic. The first guy I talked to wants to upgrade his computer, then added a caveat at the end, "Maybe I'll buy some food, too." A lot of people are going to burn this money instantly without even thinking about it and then realize they desperately need it later for something much more important. I guess the average person never learns. There's a sucker born every minute.

Conclusion

Maybe one day I'll get to renounce my citizenship and move to a crypto city-state.
Until then I guess I'll have to keep working the system to the best of my ability.
