Formerly Byteball, Obytes airdropped their coin onto Steem based on reputation. It seems that even given this disaster, this project is still extending olive branches to our community.
I don't know why @drugwars would choose Obytes. I'm not sure what they have to offer that Steem doesn't. Working on two platforms must be an added complication.
I assume @drugwars is moving to Byteball for various reasons:

They make no mention of it in the most recent post, but the new Terms Of Service is quite telling:

3. Risks Associated with the Steem and Obytes Protocols
Because FUTURE Tokens and Drugwars are based on the Steem and Obytes protocol, any malfunction, breakdown or abandonment of the Steem or Obytes protocol may have a material adverse effect on Drugwars or FUTURE Tokens.
4. Risk of Mining Attacks
As with other decentralized cryptographic FUTURE Tokens based on the Steem and Obytes protocol, the FUTURE Tokens are susceptible to attacks by miners in the course of validating Token transactions on the Steem and Obytes blockchain, including, but not limited, to double-spend attacks, majority mining power attacks, and selfish-mining attacks. Any successful attacks present a risk to Drugwars and the FUTURE Tokens, including, but not limited to, accurate execution and recording of transactions involving FUTURE Tokens.
You know, I've been wanting to buy Obytes for quite some time. Last I checked, Coinbase and Binance didn't have it, and I don't feel like signing up for other exchanges. Maybe I'll get that Bittrex account after all.

They've also added the 'Gangs' tab and a 'Forum' tab. According to the rules in the forum my scripts are grossly against their TOS :D. Oh well, once they hash the attack JSON my script will be broken and I'll give up.
Conclusion
Despite all the bellyaching the Steem community has brought to the table, I continue to be impressed by this project.
