It seems like no one is reading this post even though it's being plastered across steemit.com in a red banner: https://steemit.com/steem/@steemitblog/hf20-update-restoring-continuity
Correct, witnesses are hours away from giving everyone x10 mana. That wasn't so hard was it? It's funny how we have the attention span of goldfish and we can't peer into the obvious future. Nothing to see here folks, get back to posting.
On a side note, today is day 3.5 of HF20.
Steem produces inflation at a constant rate no matter what. If users stop voting, Steem still creates inflation and gives it to the posts that actually did get votes. HF20 has created a massive shortage of votes, so there is a large chance that in a week from now payouts are going to be very weird. I'm not going to be surprised if payouts that say $10 today turn into $100 by the time they pay out.
Steem uses a 3.5 day average for a lot of things to mitigate excessive volatility. Today, all the votes that users cast before HF20 are going to drop off the average and we'll be left with nothing but the crumbs of the HF20 aftermath. I assume this means that votes that didn't seem like they were going to be worth much are going to end up being worth a lot more.
There are a lot of big accounts that aren't going to vote today; they are still trying to get to that mythical 100%. I'm not sure if this is the best idea. I'm going to start voting now to see if I can capitalize on this magical thinking.
And I say this with the authority of someone who has no idea what they are talking about.
